Announcement The UNLOZE 2026 Mapping contest!

The UNLOZE mapping contest has already begun for some people dependent on their timezone and is about to begin soon for more people as they hit the 24th of september. The contest will go on for 2 weeks until 8th of October. After that date we will begin with one week of testing the maps. afterwards there will be more weeks where we play the maps for real on many events. Each mapper was given a biome and theme for their maps to go with and they are informed about the rules and directions being set. We currently set the date for 27th november from where on we give nide and sibgamers greenlight to use the contest maps. If we eventually decide we might move the date earlier than 27th november, but for now we request beforehand that both communities wait with adding the maps until 27th november. its our definite deadline for when we greenlight other communities to add them. We have not had a mapping contest since 2023 so its very exciting to get it going again and we hope many nice new maps will come from it. the mapping contest is today reaching its deadline. After today can mappers only use stripper to make fixes for the remaining duration of the mapping contest but of course they can update maps further afterwards that the contest finished. This week we plan on starting with events where we test the maps. actually testing is different from regular events, as we may have to interrupt gameplay in between rounds if mappers need to test gimmicks. We will arrange with mappers what times are good for them to test their maps. Then in the afterwards following weeks we will begin hosting events focused entirely on the contest maps where we will try to beat them. In case some mappers might need two test events for their maps before we do real events at attempting to beat them we can give them that as well.

We will host several events for each map, so even if we beat a contest map on an event we will do several repeats of the maps to learn them decently. Afterwards we will have a voting period to decide which maps we consider won the contest and which mappers will be rewarded the prize pool which currently is 630 euros.
